The highest decision-making body within NewGeneris is the Project Management Board, which consists of all the Workpackage leaders plus the project’s Executive Director. Representing the focal point for the project management, it approves all major strategic decisions and takes full responsibility for the management and implementation of NewGeneris research and training activities, and the financial, administrative, legal, ethics and knowledge management framework.

The NewGeneris Coordinating Institution (Maastricht University) is represented on the Project Board and the Executive Committee by the Executive Director, Prof. Jos Kleinjans. The Executive Director is responsible for, among other things, acting as the intermediary between the consortium and the Commission , overseeing the execution of the project work plans as approved by the Project Management Board and receiving and distributing all payments made by the Commission.

The Executive Director and the Project Management Board are supported in their day-to-day activities by the Project Management Office and the Project Secretariat. The Management Office is headed by the Manager of NewGeneris, Rene Reijnders, M.Sc., while the Financial Officer is Rob Schlooz.

The Project Secretariat provides support in the following activities:

- Technical and scientific project management and monitoring.

- Financial and administrative project management and monitoring

- Management of knowledge, IPR and other innovations
